Electricity is the most widely used form of energy today. Why is it preferred to other forms of energy?
Energy comes in various forms- heat, light, sound, chemical energy, mechanical energy, electricity and so on. One form of energy can be converted to another but this is not always easy to do except in the case of electricity. Electricity is one form of energy that can easily be converted to heat, light, sound, mechanical energy and so on. Another important feature of electricity is that it can easily be transported from its point of production to any other place, through conducting wires. These two qualities of electricity- its easy convertibility and the ease with which it can be transported, has made electricity the most important form of energy in use today.
